This time of year there’s a lot of hustle and bustle. There’s a lot to celebrate, and a lot to get done, so it’s important to take time to intentionally plan activities with your family and friends that are low stress and pure fun. Aside from coming to events at Victory Faith, here are some of our favorite things to do that can be low- or no-budget that are easy to plan and pull off.

Christmas light hunting

Some folks really go all out decorating their house for Christmas—including some families at Victory Faith. Load up with your friends and tour the city to see some dazzling displays. Pack a thermos of cocoa and cookies to make it extra special. Or if you'd rather go on foot, the downtown displays of Christmas trees in the mall and the Davenport Hotel are really quite a sight.

Game Night

Nothings helps you slow down and enjoy the people around you like a board game. For a larger get-together or a gathering with kids, stick to classic games with simple rules that are easy to learn. Recently we discovered Pie-Face is a real crowd-pleaser for all ages! Or for a group of close friends dedicated to serious gaming, maybe it’s time to get into something more involved and challenging, like Settlers of Catan. Whatever you play, a few snacks and an hour around the table makes for an affordable way to make memories with friends and family.

Cookie-Decorating Party

Whether you like to start from scratch or go the simple route with pre-made dough and icing from the grocery story, a cookie-decorating party is fun for all ages. Make sure you bake the cookies ahead of time so everyone involved can just roll up their sleeves and start decorating. When you're finished, enjoy! Or for added fun, deliver the cookies to neighbors, friends, or coworkers. Everyone loves getting treats!
